3D anatomical model of a dog's head in sagittal section, featuring a facial preparation and a medial view of the pharynx, larynx, and upper airways. Suitable for studying veterinary topographic anatomy and the relationships between the deep structures of the head and neck.

Sagittal Section of a Dog's Head – Erler Zimmer VP9020

This model is part of the exclusive Monash 3D Anatomy series, a comprehensive collection of human dissections reproduced using high-resolution, full-color 3D printing.

The Erler Zimmer VP9020 model uses 3D printing to reproduce a sagittal section of a dog’s head, offering a detailed view of the deep anatomical structures of the craniocervical region.

The model combines observation of the superficial structures of the face with a medial view of the head, which is particularly useful for understanding the topographic relationships between the oral cavity, pharynx, larynx, and upper airways. The three-dimensional arrangement of the various structures allows for a more immediate understanding of anatomical relationships that are more difficult to interpret in an atlas or on a two-dimensional illustration.

On the external surface, various elements of the facial musculature and surrounding regions are recognizable. The model also highlights the course of vascular and nervous structures, which are color-coded to facilitate identification during study.

The medial surface represents one of the most interesting aspects of the model. The sagittal section makes the pharynx and larynx directly observable and allows one to trace the continuity of the upper respiratory tract, providing a better understanding of the relative positions of the structures involved in breathing and swallowing.

The anatomical reproduction is created using high-definition 3D printing and employs different colors to visually distinguish muscles, vessels, nerves, and other anatomical elements. This approach makes the model particularly effective in lectures and practical exercises where it is necessary to quickly recognize the various structures and understand their spatial organization.

The VP9020 is suitable for veterinary medicine education, for teaching canine anatomy, and for laboratory activities focused on the study of the head, neck, and upper airways. It can also be used as a demonstration model in anatomical collections and in specialized training settings.
